2019 Scholastic Writing Program

Thanks to all the Gr. 7-12  students and teachers who participated in this year’s Scholastic Writing Award program for the Chicago area.   This wonderful program was established in 1923 and introduced the world to the early talents artist/ writers such as Truman Capote, Robert Redford, Sylvia Plath, Ken Burns  and others were recognized when they also were teenagers.

We have just completed adjudication for this year’s program.  Click here for the complete list of 2019 Scholastic Writing Award recipients for the Chicago region.

Finally, we are so pleased to have served as the Chicago area affiliate for this prestigious program for ten years.  As we announced earlier this fall, we are co-hosting this year’s program with Writopia Lab Chicago  which offers a wide variety of writing workshops and programs led by professional writers for teens and adults.  It is our plan to assist Writopia Lab as it takes ownership of the 2020 Scholastic Writing program and into the future.

CAWP offers professional development programs at your schools and in your districts in writing, reading, content area reading and writing, assessment including the PARCC and more. Click here for school program ideas and prices.  Click here for CAWP Program Price Sheet 2018-2019
